A small bathroom can still feel open and function well with smart choices. The goal is to maximize usable space and visual openness without an expensive layout change.

Free up floor space

Wall-mounted (floating) vanities and toilets, a pedestal sink, or a corner sink open up floor and make the room feel larger. A glass shower enclosure instead of a curtain keeps sightlines open. A pocket or barn door saves the swing space a hinged door eats.

Build in storage

Small bathrooms run out of storage fast. Recessed medicine cabinets and niches set into the wall add storage without bulk, and vertical storage above the toilet or door uses otherwise-wasted space. A mirrored cabinet doubles as storage and visual space.

Light and reflect

Light colours, a large mirror, and good lighting make a small bathroom feel bigger and brighter. Large-format tile and continuing the same flooring through the space reduce visual clutter that makes a room feel cramped.
